Alves COVID-19 Update

What you can do in your home to protect your family from CoronaVirus (COVID-19)

We have all been seeing references in the media about how to slow the spread and also how to protect yourself by washing your hands and cleaning surfaces in your home. Visit www.cdc.gov for more information.

But do you know how to protect the air around you?

Every organization is currently recommending social distancing to slow transmission of the virus through the air.  What is unclear is how long the virus survives in an airborne status.

According to the Air Conditioner Contractors of America, “Scientists believe the principal transmission mode of the Coronavirus is by respiratory droplets, which may travel several feet from someone who is coughing or sneezing. Covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze is the first step to control the spread. However, residual contaminants can travel through your HVAC system, where all air in the home is circulated and can contribute to the spread of an airborne virus. The Coronavirus has the same traits as other viruses such as the common cold, the flu, and a sore throat, by how it is spread from person-to-person.”

Two key actions you can take to protect and improve your home’s air quality:

  1. Keep your heating and cooling equipment on an Annual maintenance schedule and get an annual tune-up to understand your current air quality status;
  2. Install a whole-house air treatment system that will help to ionize non-hydro-peroxide or UV light to combat all biological and chemical contaminants.

In our opinion, an ionized hydro-peroxide system is preferable since it can disinfect a dwelling in two hours or less and creates a protective barrier that eliminates viruses introduced after the system is operational.
